The chief rabbi of a West Bank settlement has prohibited women from standing in a local community election. Here are some of his (very persuasive) reasons:
-Women must only be heard through their husbands
-Women should not be given authority
-This is the proper way of avoiding women and their husbands from voting differently
-It is inappropriate for women to mix with men in late evening meetings
Women’s groups, like Israel Women’s Lobby, have (obviously) condemned his comments.
