Edmonton’s Take Back the Night march and rally will be held on Friday, September 24 at 7pm.
Take Back the Night is a march and rally to address violence against women. While the march is women-only (trans friendly), all are welcome at the rally.
Along with the march, the night will feature speakers from the Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton, the Gateway Association for Community Living and E4C Crossroads Outreach. There will also be the Clothesline Project. This powerful display features women writing their experiences on pieces of clothing and airing out their so called dirty laundry. It challenges the idea that sexual assault is not something to talk about. New this year is the Photo Voice Project, a photographic narrative of a day in the life of an Edmonton woman using survival sex told through the eyes of front line workers.
After the march there will be a Speak Out where anyone who wants to can come forward and share their story.
There will also be feminist buttons and a has been created from submissions from women in Edmonton.
Adamant Eve will be there and we would love to march with you. Come out next Friday at 7pm, which gives you lots of time to listen to the show and get over to the Alberta Avenue Community League Hall at 92nd Street and 118th Ave.
