Stamp on it is an information night with speakers about violence against women. It seeks to start a conversation in the community about the significance of this issue and what actions can be taken in order to eliminate violence against women. This event will be an opportunity for people to become informed and challenge their opinions about the situation at hand.
This will be a free event, yet donations of tampons and other feminine hygiene items are appreciated and all donations will go to WIN House – Edmonton’s women shelter which operates two houses, as well as a 24 hour support and information line, crisis intervention, support groups, and many other services for women and children fleeing violent homes.
The event is being put on by students from the University of Alberta women’s studies program.
Nicole – A representative from the Campus Sexual Assault Center speaking about their new campaign and some myths around sexual assault.
Peggy – A ‘Take Back the Night’ activist will speak on the stigma present and issues surrounding women working to stop violence against women. We had her on the show a few weeks ago and she is an amazing women with much to teach us.
