News: Walmart, Education for Inuit People, and the Postal Strike

The US Supreme Court has ruled that over 1.5 million women who were suing Walmart for pay discrimination cannot sue as one group.

Rabble is doing a series if interviews with some of the women speaking a the Women’s Worlds conference in Ottawa July 3rd-7th. The latest interview is with Mary Simon whose work focuses on improving education for Inuit people. If you are interested in attending the conference the registration fee is $450 or $150 for students, people with low incomes or under the age of 26, and for women’s groupd with an annual budget under $350,000. Registration is free for those willing to put in 12 volunteer hours.

Postal workers are delivering pension and social assistance cheques today in spite of being locked-out by Canada Post. Federal back-to-work legislation is expected to be introduced today or tomorrow. If you are in Edmonton and would like to demonstrate your support, there will be a rally tomorrow, June 21st, at noon at the downtown plant 9808-103a Avenue.
