News Round Up: feminist economist Devaki Jain, G20 one year later, overcrowding in women’s prisons

Another interview with one of the presenters at the upcoming Women’s Worlds Conference, this time with Devaki Jain, feminist economist and activist around women and poverty.

A year after the G20 protests, activists return to the place where many were corralled and trampled by police horses to continue the call for a public inquiry.

Three months after parliament eliminated accelerated parole reviews, first time non-violent female offenders are facing dangerous overcrowding as a result. Keep in mind that women who are in prison for non-violent crimes are usually there for poverty-related offenses.
