Attempted Kidnapping and Two Cases of Exposure in Sherwood Park

Police are looking for at least two men after an attempted kidnapping of a 17-year-old woman in Sherwood Park and two exposure incidents there as well.

Strathcona RCMP responded to a report of an attempted abduction Thursday at 1:40 p.m.

A 17-year-old girl was on the sidewalk in the Craigavon neighbourhood, when a man sitting in a parked vehicle on Carmel Road asked her if she was lost and needed a ride.

She said no and continued walking. The man opened the car door, grabbed her arm and told her to get in.

He was startled by another woman walking in the area, let go and fled.

The man is approximately 40, and has short blond, receding hair, and wrinkles around his eyes. He was wearing a blue shirt and was driving a black sedan with tinted rear windows.

Police are also looking for suspects in two indecent exposure incidents.

At about 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, police were called after a man exposed himself on Melrose Crescent in the Mills Haven neighbourhood. The man fled in a dark blue SUV with “stick people” caricatures in the rear window.

The other incident occured Aug. 8, at about 6:30 a.m. when a female jogger observed a man on a path along Baseline Road north of the Mills Haven neighbourhood. As the female approached, he ducked into a treed area and exposed himself.

The suspect in both incidents is described as in his 20s, five-foot-nine, stocky build and dark, shaggy hair. He was wearing dark clothes.
