International Women’s Day Events

March 8 is International Women’s Day. Check out these great events to mark the day!

The IWD 2011 Committee is hosting a dinner and discussion

When: Tuesday March 8th 6:00p.m.
Where: CUPE Hall 10989 124 Street
What: Edmonton women and supporters are invited to
a potluck dinner, forum and discussion. Invited speakers will help
contextualize the history of the day and ongoing struggles, leaving
plenty of time for discussion. Please RSVP to let us know if you will be
attending and if you are able to bring a potluck contribution.


Feminist Edmonton is hosting an art-making event:

When: Saturday, March 12 · 1:00pm – 3:30pm
Where: Strathcona Public Libraray Meeting Room, 8331 – 104 Street
What: “International Women’s Day honours the work of the Suffragettes, celebrates women’s success, and reminds of us of the inequities still to be redressed.”* Let’s get together and recognize the inequities faced by the Trans Community.

Come join us at the Strathcona Library meeting room where we will be making posters and postcards; focusing on issues Trans and Intersex people face such as social & economic marginalization and workplace discrimination, mistreatment & harassment.


And there are events all week at UofA for Gender Equality Week.
