For those of you who haven’t heard of the Sexual Assault Map of Edmonton project, you should get caught up on it and spread the word! The project maps submissions from anonymous participants about sexual violence, abuse, or assault that they have experienced. The end result is a map of Edmonton with clickable pinpoints each with a short description of what happened. From the site:
What is the map all about?
The map is a way of making visible experiences that are often invisible. It is an opportunity to voice what is usually silenced. It is a way to visualize how extensive and pervasive the problem of sexual assault and abuse is, and show that it can and does happen everywhere.
If you have ever been sexually assaulted or abused, please participate in this project by submitting your experience in the form below. Spread the word, tell your friends, and help us represent as many people as possible.
So please do spread the word or participate yourself.
